Artist Bio
I am a classically trained architect, artist and mother of four. After staying home with our children and practicing architecture for the last 15 years, I have devoted my focus to painting. I endeavor to create paintings that capture a sense of atmospheric emotion. Whether it is a still life or a landscape, my goal is to capture the ambiance of the scene and use it to create a threshold into the familiar. An artist I admire said, "Drawing is physicalized empathy," and I strongly feel painting is even more powerful this way. Painting has the ability through a few washes and laden brushstrokes to conjure up images more immediate and evocative than any photograph.
I love to paint alla prima which I feel conveys the freshness of what I see to my viewers. Following seasonal beauty in my garden or the changing landscape gives me continued inspiration and motivation.
